Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Questions
Does the Afrodit wall light require an electrician to install?
Yes, this is a hardwired Class I fitting that must be installed by a qualified electrician in compliance with UK Building Regulations Part P. The light connects directly to your mains supply via a wall backplate, and proper earthing is required. If you don't have an existing wall light circuit in the desired location, additional wiring work may be needed.
What type of bulb does this wall light use and is it dimmable?
The Afrodit uses a single G9 capsule bulb with a maximum wattage of 40W, and yes, it is dimmable when paired with a dimmable G9 bulb and compatible dimmer switch. G9 bulbs are widely available in LED (typically 3-5W, equivalent to 25-40W halogen) and halogen versions. We recommend a warm white LED G9 for energy efficiency and to complement the antique finish.
Can I use this wall light in a bathroom?
No, this fitting is rated IP20, which means it's only suitable for dry indoor locations and offers no protection against moisture. For bathrooms, you need a minimum of IP44 (IP65 for shower zones), so the Afrodit should be installed in hallways, living rooms, bedrooms, or dining areas instead.
What are the exact dimensions of this wall light?
The fitting measures 260mm in height and 125mm in width, with the opal glass globe creating a compact round profile that projects approximately 12-13cm from the wall. This makes it ideal for narrower hallways or beside doorways where you want decorative lighting without excessive protrusion.
How bright is this wall light and what colour temperature works best?
Brightness depends on your chosen G9 bulb—a typical 4W LED G9 produces around 400 lumens, providing soft ambient lighting rather than task illumination. The opal glass diffuses the light gently, so this fitting works best for creating atmosphere in hallways, bedrooms, or as accent lighting in living spaces. A warm white bulb (2700-3000K) complements the antiqued metal finish beautifully.
What warranty does the Afrodit wall light come with?
This wall light is covered by a 2-year manufacturer warranty from our Turkish design house, protecting against defects in materials and workmanship. The warranty covers the fixture itself but does not include bulbs, which are consumable items. It's CE marked and RoHS compliant, meeting UK electrical safety standards.
The Enso Standard
Anyone can sell you a light.
We’d rather sell you the right one.
Lighting, considered.
Chosen, not stocked
For every piece here, we passed on hundreds. If a fitting doesn’t earn its place, it isn’t here.
Curation is mostly the art of saying no.
From Europe’s quiet workshops
Copenhagen brass, Milanese plaster, hand-woven French rattan — small independent design houses, named by place, plainly.
Designed in Europe. Named honestly.
Nothing left to guess
Every dimension, bulb, IP rating and install note published before you buy — you and your electrician know exactly what arrives.
The spec sheet is the love letter.
Backed, properly
Two-year warranty as standard, 30-day returns. If something isn’t right, we’d rather know — and put it right.
A fitting should outlast the fashion that chose it.
