Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Questions
Does the Akra wall light require an electrician to install?
Yes, this is a hardwired fitting and must be installed by a qualified electrician in compliance with Part P of the Building Regulations. The light connects directly to your mains wiring rather than using a plug, so professional installation is both legally required and essential for safety. Installation difficulty is rated as moderate, and all necessary mounting screws and plugs are included in the box.
Can I replace the LED bulbs when they eventually stop working?
No, the Akra features integrated LEDs that are built into the fitting and cannot be replaced by the user. Integrated LEDs typically last 25,000-50,000 hours (around 15-25 years of normal use), so replacement is rarely needed within the product's lifetime. The fitting is covered by a 2-year manufacturer's warranty should any faults develop during that period.
Is this wall light dimmable?
The product specifications do not indicate dimming capability, so this fitting should be considered non-dimmable. If you require dimming functionality for your hallway or bedroom, you would need to look for a wall light specifically marked as dimmable with compatible driver circuitry.
What are the exact dimensions and how far does it stick out from the wall?
The Akra measures 600mm in height and 23mm in width, making it a slim, linear profile perfect for narrow hallways or alcoves. The projection from the wall is not specified, but given the 23mm width and surface-mount design, expect a low-profile installation that sits close to the wall without protruding significantly into the space.
Can this be used in a bathroom above a mirror or near a shower?
No, this wall light is rated IP20, which means it has no moisture protection and is suitable for dry indoor areas only. Bathrooms require minimum IP44 rating (or IP65 for shower zones), so the Akra should be used in hallways, bedrooms, living rooms, or other areas away from direct water exposure.
What type of wall can I mount this on?
The Akra is suitable for installation on plasterboard, brick, or masonry walls. A pack of mounting screws and wall plugs is included, though your electrician may choose alternative fixings depending on your specific wall type and condition to ensure secure mounting of the 60cm fitting.
