Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Questions
Does this alabaster wall light require an electrician to install?
Yes, this is a hardwired Class I fitting and must be installed by a qualified electrician in compliance with UK Building Regulations Part P. It connects directly to your mains supply (typically via a BESA box behind the mounting plate) and requires an earth connection. Installation difficulty is rated as moderate due to the hardwired connection and wall mounting requirements.
Can I use this alabaster globe light on a dimmer switch?
Yes, the Alabaster is dimmable when fitted with a suitable dimmable G9 bulb. You'll need to ensure your dimmer switch is compatible with the type of G9 bulb you choose (LED-compatible dimmers for LED bulbs, standard dimmers for halogen). The fitting itself supports dimming up to its maximum load of 40W.
What type of bulb does this wall light take and is it included?
This fitting requires a single G9 capsule bulb with a maximum wattage of 40W. The bulb is not included, so you'll need to purchase one separately. G9 bulbs are widely available in both LED (2W–5W) and halogen versions, and we recommend a warm white (2700K–3000K) to complement the honeyed glow of the natural alabaster.
Can this satin brass wall light be used in a bathroom?
No, this light is rated IP20 which means it's suitable for indoor use only in dry environments with no moisture exposure. It cannot be installed in bathroom zones where IP ratings of IP44 or higher are required. It's ideal for hallways, bedrooms, living rooms, or other dry interior spaces.
What are the dimensions and how far does it stick out from the wall?
The fitting measures 230mm in height, 180mm in width, and projects 120mm from the wall (depth). This makes it a relatively compact wall light that won't protrude too far into your space, suitable for narrower hallways or positioning beside mirrors and beds without obstructing movement.
Is this wall light made in the UK and does it come with a warranty?
Yes, this fitting is manufactured in the United Kingdom by our British design house and comes with a 2-year warranty. It's CE marked and RoHS compliant, meeting all relevant UK electrical safety standards. Each piece is handcrafted using natural alabaster and solid brass, so slight variations in the stone's veining and colouration are to be expected.
The Enso Standard
Anyone can sell you a light.
We’d rather sell you the right one.
Lighting, considered.
Chosen, not stocked
For every piece here, we passed on hundreds. If a fitting doesn’t earn its place, it isn’t here.
Curation is mostly the art of saying no.
From Europe’s quiet workshops
Copenhagen brass, Milanese plaster, hand-woven French rattan — small independent design houses, named by place, plainly.
Designed in Europe. Named honestly.
Nothing left to guess
Every dimension, bulb, IP rating and install note published before you buy — you and your electrician know exactly what arrives.
The spec sheet is the love letter.
Backed, properly
Two-year warranty as standard, 30-day returns. If something isn’t right, we’d rather know — and put it right.
A fitting should outlast the fashion that chose it.
