Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Can I install the Alicia wall light myself or do I need an electrician?
As a mains-voltage Class I outdoor wall light, installation must comply with Part P of the Building Regulations. Unless you're a qualified electrician or registered competent person, you'll need to hire a certified professional to carry out the installation and test the circuit. The light mounts to a standard wall-mounted back box and requires an earth connection for safety.
Is this wall light suitable for use in exposed outdoor locations?
Yes, the Alicia has an IP44 rating, making it suitable for most outdoor applications including exterior walls, porches, and covered patios. IP44 provides protection against splashing water from any direction, so it will handle rain and typical UK weather conditions. Avoid placing it in locations where it would be subject to direct high-pressure water jets or complete submersion.
What type of bulb does the Alicia wall light take and is it dimmable?
The Alicia uses a standard E27 Edison Screw bulb with a maximum wattage of 40W. You can fit LED, halogen, or traditional incandescent E27 bulbs up to this limit. Dimming capability depends entirely on the bulb you choose and whether you have a compatible dimmer switch installed—the fitting itself doesn't restrict dimming, but you'll need to select a dimmable bulb and appropriate dimmer.
What are the exact dimensions of this wall light?
The Alicia measures 320mm in height, 165mm in width, and projects 120mm from the wall. These compact dimensions make it ideal for flanking doorways, garage entrances, or smaller porch areas where you want statement lighting without overwhelming the space.
Will this light work with a PIR motion sensor or photocell?
Yes, the Alicia can be wired to work with an external PIR sensor or dusk-to-dawn photocell, provided these are installed on the circuit by your electrician. The light itself doesn't have built-in motion sensing or automatic switching, so you'll need to add these controls separately if required.
Is the glass shade plastic or real glass on this lantern?
The transparent panels are made from polycarbonate rather than glass. Polycarbonate is significantly more impact-resistant than glass, making it a practical choice for outdoor applications where breakage from weather, impacts, or vandalism could be a concern, whilst still delivering the classic lantern aesthetic.
