Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Solara E14 LED candle bulb dimmable, and does it work with standard dimmers?
Yes, this bulb is fully dimmable. It works with most leading-edge and trailing-edge dimmer switches commonly installed in UK homes. The Solara is also flicker-free, which helps ensure smooth dimming performance without strobing or buzzing, though compatibility can vary by dimmer model—if you experience issues, a trailing-edge dimmer designed for LED loads usually gives the best results.
What is the actual light output, and how does 4W compare to a traditional incandescent?
This 4W LED bulb produces 470 lumens and is equivalent to a traditional 60W incandescent candle bulb. At 2700K warm white, it delivers a soft, inviting glow suitable for ambient lighting in living rooms, bedrooms, and dining rooms. With an efficacy of 104 lumens per watt, it's highly energy-efficient while providing the same brightness you'd expect from a standard 60W bulb.
Can I use this E14 bulb in a bathroom, and is it safe for Zone 2 or Zone 3?
This bulb has an IP20 rating, which means it is not protected against moisture ingress and is only suitable for dry indoor environments. It should not be used in bathroom zones (Zone 1, 2, or 3) where water spray or steam is present. For bathrooms, you'll need a fixture and bulb with a minimum IP44 rating, or ideally IP65 for areas directly around showers or baths.
What are the exact dimensions, and will it fit in a small lamp or chandelier?
The bulb measures 98mm in height and 35mm in diameter, which is a standard compact size for E14 small Edison screw (SES) candle bulbs. This makes it well-suited for chandeliers, wall sconces, and bedside table lamps where space is limited. The clear glass finish also means it looks attractive when exposed in decorative fittings.
Do I need an electrician to install this bulb, or can I fit it myself?
You can install this bulb yourself—it simply screws into any standard E14 (SES) socket, so no electrical work or Part P compliance is required. Just ensure the power is switched off before removing the old bulb and screwing in the new one. It's rated as 'Easy' installation difficulty and suitable for DIY replacement.
What is the lifespan and warranty coverage for this LED bulb?
The Solara E14 LED bulb has a rated life of 25,000 hours, which equates to around 22 years of use at 3 hours per day. It comes with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. Given the long lifespan and low 4W energy consumption, you'll rarely need to replace it and will save significantly on running costs compared to halogen or incandescent bulbs.
