The fitting terminates in mains wiring that connects directly to your ceiling rose or junction box, so it's not a simple plug-in installation. Most electricians will find it straightforward to fit, as it's designed for standard ceiling mounting on plasterboard, timber joists, or concrete.
What type of bulb does this pendant take and is one included?
The Kaia uses a standard E27 Edison screw bulb with a maximum wattage of 7W, and no bulb is included with the fitting. You'll need to purchase an E27 LED bulb separately — we recommend a warm white (2700K) dimmable LED to complement the sand beige stone-effect finish. The 7W maximum is typical for modern LED bulbs, which provide ample light output while staying energy-efficient.
Can this pendant light be dimmed?
Yes, the Kaia is dimmable when paired with a dimmable E27 bulb and a trailing edge dimmer switch. The fitting itself is compatible with dimming, but you must use a dimmable LED bulb (sold separately) and ensure your wall dimmer is a trailing edge type, as this works best with LED technology. Standard rotary or leading edge dimmers may cause flickering or buzzing with LEDs.
What are the dimensions and how low will it hang?
The shade measures 40 cm wide, 36 cm deep, and 18 cm high, with a 2-metre suspension cable included. The cable length is adjustable during installation, so your electrician can shorten it to suit your ceiling height and desired drop. This makes it versatile for both standard and high ceilings — ideal for positioning over dining tables or kitchen islands where you can tailor the hanging height to your space.
Is this pendant suitable for bathrooms?
No, this pendant has an IP20 rating, which means it's not protected against moisture and is only suitable for dry indoor areas. IP20-rated fittings are not compliant for use in bathroom zones where splashing or steam is present. For bathrooms, you'll need a fitting rated at least IP44 or higher depending on the zone.
