Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Questions
Does the Kanto trimless downlight need to be installed by a qualified electrician?
Yes, this is a hardwired mains-voltage fitting and requires installation by a qualified electrician in compliance with Part P of the Building Regulations. The installation involves cutting a ceiling aperture, securing the housing to joists or ceiling supports, plastering over the trim edge, and connecting to your lighting circuit. This is rated as a moderate difficulty installation due to the plaster-in finish requiring careful alignment and finishing work.
Can this trimless downlight be dimmed, and what type of dimmer switch do I need?
Yes, the Kanto is fully dimmable using a leading edge (TRIAC) dimmer switch, which is the most common type found in UK homes. Ensure your dimmer is compatible with the LED module's wattage and specifically rated for LED loads to avoid flickering or poor performance. Your electrician can confirm compatibility during installation.
What size ceiling aperture do I need to cut for this plaster-in downlight?
The fitting measures 68mm wide × 88mm deep, so you'll need to cut an aperture slightly larger than these dimensions to accommodate the housing. The visible aperture height is just 39mm, but the trimless design means the plaster is brought flush to the edge of the aperture, making the fitting virtually invisible when installed correctly. Detailed cutting templates are included in the installation instructions.
Is the Kanto suitable for bathroom use?
No, this downlight has an IP20 rating, which means it's suitable for general indoor dry locations only and is not protected against moisture ingress. For bathroom zones (especially zones 1 and 2), you'll need a minimum rating of IP44 or IP65 depending on proximity to showers and baths.
Does this downlight come with a bulb, or do I need to purchase one separately?
The Kanto features an integrated LED module rather than a replaceable bulb, so everything you need for light output is built into the unit. There's no need to purchase separate lamps. If the LED module fails within the 2-year warranty period, the entire fitting would be covered under warranty.
What colour temperature and brightness does this downlight produce?
The specifications provided don't include lumen output or colour temperature (CCT) details for the integrated LED module. We recommend contacting us directly before purchase if you need specific brightness levels or colour temperature (warm white, neutral, or cool white) to match existing lighting schemes in your space.
The Enso Standard
Anyone can sell you a light.
We’d rather sell you the right one.
Lighting, considered.
Chosen, not stocked
For every piece here, we passed on hundreds. If a fitting doesn’t earn its place, it isn’t here.
Curation is mostly the art of saying no.
Held to one standard
Copenhagen brass or precision-built LED — every piece is vetted the same way: finish, build, light quality, safety. If it doesn’t pass, it doesn’t stay.
The standard doesn’t care what a light costs.
Nothing left to guess
Every dimension, bulb, IP rating and install note published before you buy — you and your electrician know exactly what arrives.
The spec sheet is the love letter.
Backed, properly
Two-year warranty as standard, 30-day returns. If something isn’t right, we’d rather know — and put it right.
A fitting should outlast the fashion that chose it.
