Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Adjustable Focused Downlight Beam
Creates a directional pool of light that can be angled up to 30° to highlight artwork, wash walls, or accent architectural features. The anti-glare aperture keeps the beam controlled whilst the tiltable gimbal lets you position light exactly where needed without relocating the fitting.

Questions
Does this trimless downlight require a qualified electrician to install?
Yes, the Kanto is hardwired and must be installed by a qualified electrician in compliance with UK Building Regulations Part P. The installation involves connecting mains cables directly to the fitting, which is classed as notifiable electrical work. While rated as moderate difficulty for a professional, this isn't a DIY job unless you're a certified sparks.
Can I use this downlight in a bathroom or shower room?
Yes, with an IP65 rating the Kanto is fully protected against water jets and can be installed in bathroom zones 1 and 2 (directly above a bath or shower). Just ensure your electrician follows the specific zoning requirements in BS 7671 (18th Edition wiring regulations) for the exact placement in your bathroom.
What GU10 bulb should I use and can it be dimmed?
The fitting accepts any GU10 bulb up to 7W maximum (ideal for LED), and yes, it's dimmable using a leading edge (TRIAC) dimmer switch. Make sure you choose a dimmable GU10 LED bulb and pair it with a compatible LED dimmer — non-dimmable bulbs will flicker or fail when dimmed. The bulb is not included, so you'll need to purchase one separately.
What are the cut-out dimensions for installation in a plasterboard ceiling?
The visible aperture is 87 mm wide, but you'll need to account for a total ceiling void depth of 106 mm and a height of 39 mm for the fitting body. Your electrician will cut the aperture into bare plasterboard, install the fitting, then skim plaster over the trim so it disappears flush with your ceiling finish — hence the 'trimless plaster-in' design.
How much can I tilt the light and what's the beam angle like?
The Kanto features a tiltable gimbal mechanism that allows you to angle the GU10 lamp to direct light precisely onto artwork, architectural features, or walls. The exact tilt range and beam angle depend on the GU10 bulb you choose — narrow spot bulbs (e.g. 36°) give focused accent lighting, while wider flood bulbs (e.g. 60°) provide more general illumination.
What warranty does this downlight come with?
The Kanto trimless downlight is covered by a 2-year manufacturer's warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. It's also CE marked and RoHS compliant, meeting UK safety and environmental standards. Keep your proof of purchase in case you need to make a claim during the warranty period.
The Enso Standard
Anyone can sell you a light.
We’d rather sell you the right one.
Lighting, considered.
Chosen, not stocked
For every piece here, we passed on hundreds. If a fitting doesn’t earn its place, it isn’t here.
Curation is mostly the art of saying no.
Held to one standard
Copenhagen brass or precision-built LED — every piece is vetted the same way: finish, build, light quality, safety. If it doesn’t pass, it doesn’t stay.
The standard doesn’t care what a light costs.
Nothing left to guess
Every dimension, bulb, IP rating and install note published before you buy — you and your electrician know exactly what arrives.
The spec sheet is the love letter.
Backed, properly
Two-year warranty as standard, 30-day returns. If something isn’t right, we’d rather know — and put it right.
A fitting should outlast the fashion that chose it.
