Product Care Guide

Plaster

Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.

Brass & metal

Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.

Glass

Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.

Fabric shades

Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.

Ceramic

Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.

Before you clean

Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Light That Moves With You

Some lights simply fill a room. Others sculpt it. The Luminar belongs to the latter — a precision spotlight that brings walls, artwork and architectural details to life with directional warmth. Its ribbed brass cylinder rotates a full 330° and tilts 90°, letting you paint with light exactly where it matters. The result? Depth, drama, and a sense of intentionality that transforms everyday interiors into curated spaces.

Machined from solid brushed brass in Copenhagen, this is Danish craftsmanship at its quietest and most confident. The neat box mount sits flush to the ceiling, while the cylindrical head delivers focused illumination without fuss. Dimmable with a GU10 lamp, it's a light designed not to shout, but to elevate — refined, adjustable, and built to last decades.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Luminar brass ceiling spotlight require an electrician to install?

Yes, this is a hardwired ceiling spotlight that must be installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with UK Building Regulations Part P. The fitting connects directly to your mains electrical supply and typically mounts to a standard BESA box or ceiling rose. Installation difficulty is rated as moderate, involving secure ceiling fixing and correct termination of live, neutral, and earth connections.

What type of bulb does this spotlight use and is one included?

The Luminar uses a standard GU10 bulb with a maximum wattage of 60W, but no bulb is included in the box. You'll need to purchase a GU10 bulb separately — we recommend an LED GU10 for energy efficiency, which typically uses only 4-6W while providing equivalent light output to a traditional 50W halogen. The fitting accepts any GU10 bulb that fits within the 60W maximum rating.

Can this brass spotlight be used with a dimmer switch?

Yes, the Luminar is fully dimmable when paired with a trailing edge dimmer switch and a dimmable GU10 bulb. You must use a trailing edge (also called electronic) dimmer rather than a leading edge type for smooth, flicker-free dimming performance. Ensure both your dimmer switch and your chosen GU10 bulb are marked as dimmable for full compatibility.

What are the dimensions of this ceiling spotlight and how far does it protrude?

The spotlight measures 100mm in height (protrusion from ceiling), 60mm in width, and 50mm in diameter for the cylindrical head. At 1000g it's a substantial solid brass fitting, so you'll need to ensure your ceiling can support the weight and that the mounting point is securely fixed to a joist or uses appropriate fixings for plasterboard ceilings.

Is this spotlight suitable for bathrooms or outdoor use?

No, the Luminar has an IP20 rating, which means it's designed for dry indoor use only and offers no protection against moisture ingress. It cannot be used in bathrooms (which require minimum IP44 in zones) or outdoors. It's ideal for lounges, hallways, bedrooms, and dining areas where you want to highlight artwork, architectural features, or create accent lighting.

What warranty does the brushed brass spotlight come with?

The Luminar ceiling spotlight is covered by a 2-year manufacturer's warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. The fitting is both CE marked and RoHS compliant, confirming it meets UK and European safety and environmental standards. Note that the warranty covers the fitting itself; bulbs are consumable items and are not covered.

The Enso Standard

Anyone can sell you a light.
We’d rather sell you the right one.

Lighting, considered.

01

Chosen, not stocked

For every piece here, we passed on hundreds. If a fitting doesn’t earn its place, it isn’t here.

Curation is mostly the art of saying no.

02

From Europe’s quiet workshops

Copenhagen brass, Milanese plaster, hand-woven French rattan — small independent design houses, named by place, plainly.

Designed in Europe. Named honestly.

03

Nothing left to guess

Every dimension, bulb, IP rating and install note published before you buy — you and your electrician know exactly what arrives.

The spec sheet is the love letter.

04

Backed, properly

Two-year warranty as standard, 30-day returns. If something isn’t right, we’d rather know — and put it right.

A fitting should outlast the fashion that chose it.
