Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Questions
Does the Akiko pendant light require an electrician to install?
Yes, this fitting is hardwired and must be installed by a qualified electrician in compliance with Part P of the Building Regulations. The installation involves connecting mains wiring directly to the pendant's ceiling rose, and whilst the process is rated as easy for a professional, it's not suitable as a DIY project unless you're a competent person under Part P. The fitting mounts to standard plasterboard, timber joist, or concrete ceilings.
What bulbs do I need for the Akiko 3-light pendant?
You'll need three E27 (Edison screw) bulbs, each with a maximum wattage of 7W. Bulbs are not included with the fitting. For the best effect with the amber glass shades, consider warm white LED bulbs (2700K) which will enhance the honeyed glow, and ensure they're dimmable bulbs if you plan to use a dimmer switch.
Can the Akiko travertine pendant be dimmed?
Yes, the Akiko is dimmable when paired with dimmable E27 bulbs and a trailing edge dimmer switch. You'll need to ensure both the bulbs and dimmer are compatible—trailing edge dimmers work best with LED bulbs and prevent flickering. The dimmer switch itself is not included and must be installed separately by your electrician.
What are the dimensions and drop length of this 3-light pendant?
The fitting has a diameter of 270mm (27cm) and comes with a 1.5-metre cable length, allowing the pendant to hang up to 1.5m from the ceiling. The three amber glass globes are suspended at staggered intervals, creating visual depth. This makes it particularly well-suited to positioning above dining tables or kitchen islands where the drop length won't obstruct head height.
Is the Akiko pendant suitable for bathrooms or outdoor use?
No, this pendant has an IP20 rating, which means it's only suitable for dry indoor locations away from moisture. It cannot be used in bathrooms (which require IP44 or higher in zones 1-2) or outdoors. Stick to living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, hallways, or kitchens away from direct water exposure.
What warranty does the Akiko pendant come with?
The fitting comes with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. This warranty is valid from the date of purchase and covers the travertine, glass shades, and electrical components, but does not extend to bulbs or damage caused by improper installation or use outside the IP20 rating.
