Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Does this outdoor wall light need to be installed by an electrician?
Yes, the Corben is a hardwired fitting and must be installed by a qualified electrician in compliance with UK Building Regulations Part P. The light connects directly to your mains wiring, typically via a junction box or loop-in system behind the mounting point. Professional installation ensures safe IP44 weatherproofing and correct earthing of the die-cast aluminium body.
What type of bulb does this half lantern take and is it included?
This fitting requires one E27 screw-in bulb with a maximum wattage of 60W, which is not included. The transparent glass panels showcase the bulb, so a vintage-style filament LED or traditional lamp works beautifully to complement the heritage design. You can use any standard E27 bulb up to 60W, including dimmable varieties if you have a compatible dimmer switch installed.
Is IP44 rating sufficient for outdoor use in all weather?
Yes, the IP44 rating makes this wall light suitable for most outdoor locations including porches, doorways and garden walls where it's mounted under some shelter. IP44 provides protection against solid objects over 1mm and water splashes from any direction, so it will withstand typical British rain and weather. Avoid positioning it in areas of direct, driving rain or where standing water may collect.
What are the dimensions of this wall light and how far does it stick out?
The Corben measures 440mm in height, 260mm in width, and projects 120mm from the wall. This classic half lantern profile is well-proportioned for standard residential doorways and porch areas without protruding excessively. Ensure you have adequate clearance from door openings and that the 120mm depth won't obstruct pathways or entry points.
Can this wall light be used with a dimmer switch?
Dimming capability depends entirely on the E27 bulb you choose, not the fitting itself. If you install a dimmable LED or halogen bulb and have a compatible dimmer switch on the circuit, you'll be able to dim the light. Make sure your electrician confirms the existing or planned dimmer switch is suitable for the bulb type you intend to use.
What warranty does this outdoor wall light come with?
This half lantern comes with a 5-year manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. The die-cast aluminium construction and quality finish are built to last, but the warranty provides peace of mind for long-term outdoor exposure. Note that the warranty covers the fitting only—bulbs are consumable items and are not included in warranty coverage.
