Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Questions
Does the DL31 outdoor path light need to be installed by an electrician?
Yes, this is a mains-powered 230V fitting and outdoor electrical work falls under Part P of the Building Regulations in England and Wales. Unless you're a competent person registered with a self-certification scheme, you'll need a qualified electrician to install it safely and ensure the cable is properly protected and rated for outdoor use. The fitting connects directly to your garden's mains supply rather than plugging in, so proper waterproof connections are essential.
What bulb does this path light take and is it included?
The DL31 uses a standard E27 ES (Edison Screw) bulb, which is not included with the fitting. You can use any E27 bulb up to the maximum wattage specified in the instruction manual—LED bulbs are recommended for energy efficiency and longevity in outdoor settings. Because the fitting is fully dimmable, choose a dimmable E27 LED if you plan to use it with a dimmer switch.
Is the IP44 rating sufficient for exposed garden paths and driveways?
Yes, the IP44 rating means this path light is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for garden paths, driveways, and borders. It will withstand rain and typical UK weather conditions, though it shouldn't be submerged or placed where it will sit in standing water. For fully exposed coastal or particularly harsh locations, you might consider a higher IP rating, but IP44 is the standard for most garden bollard lights.
Can this 100cm path light be used with a standard dimmer switch?
Yes, the DL31 is fully dimmable, but you'll need to ensure both your dimmer switch and the E27 bulb you choose are compatible with each other. LED bulbs require LED-compatible dimmer switches—older dimmer switches designed for halogen or incandescent bulbs can cause flickering or damage. Your electrician should install an appropriate trailing-edge or universal dimmer rated for the bulb type you're using.
How do you secure this path light—does it need concrete or can it go straight into soil?
The DL31 comes with a ground stake in the box, which is designed to push into firm soil or lawn for straightforward installation. For harder ground, driveways, or permanent installations, you may want to set the stake in concrete or use a suitable surface-mount base to ensure stability given the 1-metre height and 2kg weight. The mains cable will need to be buried in conduit at the appropriate depth as per outdoor wiring regulations.
What's the actual diameter of this cylindrical bollard light?
The fitting has a diameter of 310mm (width and depth are both listed as 310mm in the specifications), creating a substantial cylindrical profile. At 100cm tall and 310mm wide, the DL31 makes a bold architectural statement along pathways and borders, so ensure you have adequate spacing if installing multiple units—typically 2-3 metres apart works well for continuous path lighting.

The Enso Standard
Anyone can sell you a light.
We’d rather sell you the right one.
Lighting, considered.
Chosen, not stocked
For every piece here, we passed on hundreds. If a fitting doesn’t earn its place, it isn’t here.
Curation is mostly the art of saying no.
Held to one standard
Copenhagen brass or precision-built LED — every piece is vetted the same way: finish, build, light quality, safety. If it doesn’t pass, it doesn’t stay.
The standard doesn’t care what a light costs.
Nothing left to guess
Every dimension, bulb, IP rating and install note published before you buy — you and your electrician know exactly what arrives.
The spec sheet is the love letter.
Backed, properly
Two-year warranty as standard, 30-day returns. If something isn’t right, we’d rather know — and put it right.
A fitting should outlast the fashion that chose it.
