Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Does the Kintsu wide pendant light require an electrician to install?
Yes, this pendant is hardwired to the mains and must be installed by a qualified electrician in compliance with UK Building Regulations Part P. The fitting connects directly to your ceiling wiring (typically via a BESA box or ceiling rose) and cannot simply be plugged in. While the installation itself is straightforward for a professional, legal compliance and safety require a certified electrician to carry out and certify the work.
What bulb do I need for the Kintsu stone-effect pendant?
You'll need one E27 (Edison screw) bulb with a maximum wattage of 7W. No bulb is included, so you'll need to purchase this separately. We'd recommend an LED E27 bulb in your preferred colour temperature—warm white (2700K) for cosy dining spaces or cool white (4000K) for task-focused kitchen islands—keeping within the 7W limit to ensure safe operation.
Can this pendant light be dimmed?
Yes, the Kintsu is dimmable when fitted with a compatible dimmable E27 bulb and a trailing edge dimmer switch. You'll need to ensure both the bulb you purchase is marked as dimmable and that your dimmer is a trailing edge type (not leading edge), as this works best with modern LED lamps. If you experience flickering, check that both components are compatible with each other.
What are the dimensions of this pendant and how low does it hang?
The pendant shade measures 600mm wide and 250mm deep, giving it a low, horizontal profile ideal for dining tables or kitchen islands. The cable length is 2 metres, which provides flexibility for ceiling heights, though this can typically be shortened during installation by an electrician to suit your space. The wide, shallow form means it won't dominate visually but still creates a strong anchoring presence over a surface.
Can I use this pendant light in a bathroom?
No, this pendant has an IP20 rating, which means it's only suitable for dry indoor environments and offers no protection against moisture. Bathrooms require a minimum of IP44 (or IP65 for directly above baths/showers), so the Kintsu is not appropriate for bathroom zones. It's best suited to living rooms, dining areas, bedrooms, or kitchens away from direct water exposure.
