01 / The feeling
Lovely by day.
A little magic after dark.
Hand-cast in a small Portuguese studio, the Kiro is a wall light that behaves more like a piece of ceramics than a fitting. Its cone-shaped shade throws light both up and down, washing the wall above and below in a soft, glare-free glow rather than pointing a beam into the room. In Provence Blue — a soft, dusty French blue — it reads as quiet architecture by day and turns into a warm band of light after dark.
Patrícia Lobo casts, paints and glazes every Kiro by hand at LOBO Atelier, so slight variations in tone and surface are part of the piece and no two are quite the same. The Large measures 235mm wide x 135mm deep x 200mm high and takes one G9 bulb up to 40W (a 4W LED is ideal, bulb not included), dimmable with a dimmable bulb and compatible dimmer. Hardwired for indoor wall mounting. Made to order in Portugal.

Good to know
A few questions,
before it comes home.
Does the Kiro wall light need to be installed by an electrician?
Yes, the Kiro is hardwired rather than plug-in, so it must be connected directly to your mains wiring. Under UK Building Regulations Part P, all new fixed electrical installations in kitchens and bathrooms require a qualified electrician, and many insurance policies require professional installation for hardwired fittings elsewhere too. The fitting typically mounts to a standard BESA box recessed into the wall.
What type of bulb does this wall light take and is it dimmable?
The Kiro takes a single G9 capsule bulb, which is a small two-pin halogen or LED type. The fitting itself is dimmable, so you can use a dimmable G9 LED bulb (widely available) on a compatible dimmer switch to adjust the light level. G9 bulbs are not included, so you'll need to purchase one separately.
Can I use this Provence Blue wall light in a bathroom?
No, the Kiro has an IP20 rating, which means it's only suitable for dry indoor locations with no moisture exposure. UK bathroom zones require minimum IP44 (zones 1 and 2) or IP65 (zone 0), so this fitting should be installed in hallways, bedrooms, living rooms or dining areas instead.
What are the exact dimensions of the large Kiro wall light?
The large version measures 235mm wide, 200mm high, and projects 135mm from the wall. It weighs 900g, so it has a substantial ceramic presence on the wall but isn't overly heavy. The cone-shaped shade is proportioned to create upward and downward light washes suitable for feature walls or flanking alcoves.
How much light does this wall light produce?
The light output depends entirely on which G9 bulb you choose, as the bulb is not included. A typical G9 LED bulb ranges from 200 to 400 lumens, which produces a soft ambient wash rather than task lighting. Because the Kiro's cone shade directs light up and down the wall rather than into the room, it works best as accent or mood lighting rather than the primary light source.
Is the Provence Blue finish glazed ceramic or painted?
The Kiro is hand-cast ceramic with a glazed finish, made in a small Portuguese studio. The Provence Blue is a soft, dusty French blue applied as a ceramic glaze, so the colour is fired into the material rather than painted on. This makes it durable and colourfast, with the kind of subtle tonal variation you'd expect from artisan ceramics.
