Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

The fitting connects directly to your mains wiring via a ceiling rose or junction box, typically mounted to plasterboard, timber joist, or concrete ceiling. The installation itself is straightforward, with a 1.3m cable provided for suspension.
Can I dim the Koto pendant light?
Yes, the Koto is dimmable when paired with a dimmable E27 bulb and a trailing edge dimmer switch. You'll need to ensure both your bulb and dimmer are compatible—LED bulbs typically require trailing edge dimmers rather than older leading edge types. The fitting itself supports dimming, but the bulb is not included, so you'll need to purchase a suitable dimmable E27 bulb separately.
What size bulb does the Koto Terrazzo Pendant take and is it included?
The Koto uses a standard E27 screw bulb with a maximum wattage of 12W, which is suitable for modern LED bulbs. The bulb is not included with the fitting, so you'll need to purchase one separately. We recommend an E27 LED bulb in your preferred colour temperature—warm white (2700K-3000K) works beautifully with the natural wood and terrazzo finish.
What are the dimensions of the Koto pendant and how low does it hang?
The shade itself measures 120mm in diameter and 170mm in height, making it a compact pendant ideal for smaller spaces or clustering. With the 1.3m cable length, it hangs up to 1.3 metres below your ceiling rose, though this can be shortened during installation if needed. Its cylindrical shape and modest size make it perfect for bedside tables, kitchen islands, or in a row of two or three over a dining table.
Is the Koto Terrazzo Pendant suitable for bathroom use?
No, the Koto has an IP20 rating, which means it's only suitable for dry indoor locations and not bathrooms. IP20 provides no protection against moisture, so it must be used in living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, dining rooms, or kitchens away from direct water exposure. For bathrooms, you'd need a pendant with at least an IP44 rating for zones 2 and 3.
What warranty does the Koto pendant come with?
The Koto Terrazzo & Wood Pendant Light comes with a 2-year warranty covering manufacturing defects and faults. The fitting is CE marked and RoHS compliant, meeting UK safety and environmental standards.
