Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Questions
What dimmer switches work with the Nimbus Pro GU10 6W LED bulb?
The Nimbus Pro requires a leading edge (TRIAC) dimmer switch for smooth, flicker-free dimming. Trailing edge dimmers are not compatible and may cause buzzing or flickering. If you're replacing old halogens, your existing dimmer may work, but LED-compatible leading edge dimmers will give the best performance across the full dimming range.
What is the actual size of this GU10 bulb — will it fit recessed downlights?
The bulb measures 52mm in height with a standard GU10 base diameter of 50mm, making it compatible with virtually all UK recessed downlight fittings. At 40g it's lightweight and won't strain spring clips. The 36-degree beam angle suits standard ceiling heights of 2.4–3m for focused accent lighting.
How bright is 575 lumens compared to a halogen GU10?
At 575 lumens, this 6W LED replaces a traditional 80W halogen GU10 while using 92% less energy. The focused 36-degree beam delivers crisp, directional light ideal for spotlighting kitchen worktops, artwork, or architectural features. For ambient lighting in a living room, you'd typically need 4–6 bulbs depending on room size.
Can I use this GU10 LED bulb in a bathroom?
This bulb is rated for indoor use only and has no IP rating, so it must not be installed in bathroom zones 0, 1, or 2 where water ingress is possible. It can be used in zone 3 (outside shower/bath enclosures, more than 60cm from water sources) or elsewhere in the bathroom provided the fitting itself offers appropriate IP protection for the location.
What does CRI 97 actually mean for home lighting?
CRI (Colour Rendering Index) measures how accurately a light source reveals true colours, with natural sunlight scoring 100. At CRI 97+, the Nimbus Pro renders reds, greens, and skin tones with near-perfect fidelity — essential for viewing artwork, preparing food, or choosing clothing. Most standard LEDs score 80–85, which can make colours look dull or slightly off.
What's covered under the 5-year warranty on this LED bulb?
The 5-year warranty covers manufacturing defects including premature failure, flickering, or colour shift under normal domestic use. It does not cover damage from incorrect dimmer switches, power surges, or installation in unsuitable environments (e.g. enclosed fittings without ventilation). Simply contact EnsoLight with your order number if a fault occurs within the warranty period.
The Enso Standard
Anyone can sell you a light.
We’d rather sell you the right one.
Lighting, considered.
Chosen, not stocked
For every piece here, we passed on hundreds. If a fitting doesn’t earn its place, it isn’t here.
Curation is mostly the art of saying no.
Held to one standard
Copenhagen brass or precision-built LED — every piece is vetted the same way: finish, build, light quality, safety. If it doesn’t pass, it doesn’t stay.
The standard doesn’t care what a light costs.
Nothing left to guess
Every dimension, bulb, IP rating and install note published before you buy — you and your electrician know exactly what arrives.
The spec sheet is the love letter.
Backed, properly
Two-year warranty as standard, 30-day returns. If something isn’t right, we’d rather know — and put it right.
A fitting should outlast the fashion that chose it.
