What type of bulb does the Odile pendant light use and what's the maximum wattage?
The Odile takes a standard E27 screw bulb (the large Edison screw fitting) with a maximum wattage of 12W. The bulb is not included, so you'll need to purchase one separately. We'd recommend an LED E27 bulb in warm white (2700K-3000K) to complement the soft beige fabric shade and create that gentle, relaxing glow.
Can I dim this pendant light?
Yes, the Odile is dimmable, but you'll need to fit a dimmable E27 bulb and use a trailing edge dimmer switch. The pendant itself doesn't include dimming electronics, so the dimming capability depends entirely on your choice of bulb and having the correct dimmer installed on your lighting circuit. Standard rotary or slide dimmers rated for LED loads work well with most dimmable E27 LED bulbs.
Do I need an electrician to install this pendant light?
Yes, this is a hardwired Class I pendant light, so installation must comply with UK Building Regulations Part P. Unless you're a competent person registered with a scheme like NICEIC or NAPIT, you'll need a qualified electrician to connect it safely to your mains circuit and certify the work. The fitting itself is straightforward to hang, but the electrical connection is a notifiable job.
What are the dimensions and how low will it hang?
The shade measures 59 cm in diameter and 34 cm deep, making it substantial enough for dining tables or larger living spaces. The total drop from ceiling to bottom of the shade is 189 cm, though the height is adjustable via the 1.9-metre cable — you can shorten this during installation to suit your ceiling height and desired hanging length.
Is this light suitable for a bathroom?
No, the Odile has an IP20 rating, which means it's only protected against solid objects and has no moisture protection whatsoever. IP20 fittings are not safe for bathrooms and must be kept in dry indoor spaces only. For bathrooms you'd need a minimum of IP44 (IP65 for shower zones).
What warranty does this pendant come with?
The Odile fabric pendant is covered by a 2-year manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. This covers the fixture itself (the shade, metalwork, and lampholder), but doesn't extend to bulbs, which are considered consumables. The fitting is CE marked and RoHS compliant for safety and environmental standards.
