Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Alma Silver Leaf wall light require an electrician to install?
Yes, this is a hardwired wall light and must be installed by a qualified electrician in compliance with UK Building Regulations Part P. The fitting mounts to plasterboard, brick or masonry walls and connects directly to your mains wiring, typically via a BESA box or ceiling rose backplate. Installation difficulty is rated as moderate due to the plaster material and dual lampholders.
What bulbs do I need for this wall light and are they included?
The Alma requires 2x G9 capsule bulbs with a maximum wattage of 25W each. Bulbs are not included with the fitting, so you'll need to purchase them separately. For best results with the silver leaf finish, choose warm white G9 LED bulbs (2700K-3000K) which are energy-efficient and fully compatible with the trailing edge dimmer.
Can the Alma wall light be dimmed?
Yes, the Alma is dimmable when fitted with dimmable G9 LED bulbs and used with a trailing edge dimmer switch. Trailing edge dimmers are specifically designed for LED loads and prevent flickering or buzzing. Ensure both your bulbs and dimmer switch are compatible with LED technology for smooth, flicker-free dimming performance.
What are the dimensions of this wall light and how far does it project from the wall?
The Alma measures 250mm high, 190mm wide, and projects 100mm from the wall surface. This depth creates the sculptural presence and gentle shadow play that defines the design, but do account for the 10cm projection in narrower hallways or beside doors where clearance matters.
Is this silver leaf plaster wall light suitable for bathrooms?
No, the Alma has an IP20 rating which means it's rated for general indoor use only and offers no protection against moisture. It's not suitable for bathrooms or any areas with high humidity. For living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and dining rooms the IP20 rating is perfectly adequate.
What warranty does the Alma wall light come with?
This fitting is covered by a 2-year manufacturer's warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. The warranty covers the plaster structure, lampholder assembly and electrical components, though it does not extend to bulbs or damage from improper installation. The fitting is CE marked and RoHS compliant to UK safety standards.
