Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an electrician to install the Mars outdoor wall light?
Yes, as this is a hardwired fitting, installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician in compliance with UK Building Regulations Part P. The Mars connects directly to your mains electrical supply and cannot simply be plugged in. Your electrician will need to isolate the circuit, connect the fitting to the appropriate cable (typically from an existing outdoor light position or through an external wall), and ensure all connections are properly sealed for outdoor use.
Is the Mars wall light suitable for coastal or very exposed locations?
The Mars has an IP44 rating, which provides protection against splashing water and solid objects larger than 1mm. This makes it suitable for most standard outdoor applications like porches, covered patios, and garden walls with some shelter. However, IP44 is not suitable for very exposed coastal locations with salt spray or areas subject to direct high-pressure water jets—for those conditions you'd need IP65 or higher.
Can the Mars outdoor wall light be dimmed?
The specifications do not indicate that this integrated LED fitting is dimmable. As the LEDs are built into the unit and cannot be replaced with alternative bulbs, you should assume this light operates at full brightness only. If you require dimming functionality for your outdoor lighting, you would need to look for a fitting specifically listed as dimmable with compatible driver technology.
What happens when the LED stops working—can I replace the bulb?
No, the Mars features integrated LEDs which are permanently built into the fitting and cannot be replaced like traditional bulbs. Integrated LEDs typically last 15,000-30,000 hours (10-20+ years with average use), so replacement is rarely needed during the product's expected lifespan. If the LED does eventually fail, the entire fitting would need to be replaced rather than just changing a bulb.
What are the exact dimensions of the Mars wall light?
The Mars measures 140mm high, 117mm wide, and projects 110mm from the wall. This compact rectangular profile makes it suitable for standard doorways and entrance areas without protruding excessively. At 800g, it's a lightweight metal fitting that can be mounted on most exterior walls using the included screws and plugs.
How much light does the Mars produce and what colour is it?
The specifications provided do not include lumen output or colour temperature (CCT) details for this fitting. As an up-and-down wall light, the Mars is designed primarily for architectural accent lighting rather than as a main security or task light—it creates dramatic uplighting and downlighting effects on your wall surface whilst providing ambient illumination. For specific brightness and colour temperature information, you may need to contact the retailer directly.
