What type of bulbs does the Miyo Travertine & Wood Pendant take and are they included?
This pendant requires three E27 bulbs with a maximum wattage of 12W each, which are not included with the fitting. You'll need to purchase standard Edison screw (E27) bulbs separately — LED bulbs are recommended for energy efficiency. If you want dimming capability, ensure you choose dimmable E27 bulbs and pair them with a trailing edge dimmer switch.
Can this three-light pendant be dimmed?
Yes, the Miyo is dimmable when fitted with dimmable E27 bulbs and controlled via a trailing edge dimmer switch (not included). Standard non-dimmable bulbs will work at full brightness, but you must use dimmable-rated bulbs if you install a dimmer. Trailing edge dimmers are more compatible with LED bulbs than leading edge types and produce less flickering.
Do I need an electrician to install this pendant light?
Yes, an electrician is required as this is a hardwired pendant light that connects directly to your mains electrical supply. Under UK Building Regulations Part P, any new connections or alterations to fixed lighting circuits in kitchens, bathrooms, or outdoors must be carried out or certified by a qualified electrician. The installation itself is rated as easy for a professional, and the fitting is suitable for plasterboard, timber joist, or concrete ceilings.
What are the dimensions and is the hanging height adjustable?
The fitting measures 700mm wide with a total drop of 1500mm from ceiling to the bottom of the shades, and comes with a 1.5m cable. The height is adjustable, so your electrician can shorten the cable during installation to suit your ceiling height and table position. The elongated design makes it particularly well-suited to kitchen islands and dining tables where you need light distributed across a longer area.
Can this pendant be used in a bathroom?
No, this pendant is rated IP20 and is only suitable for dry indoor locations such as dining rooms, kitchens, and living spaces. IP20 offers no protection against moisture, so it cannot be safely installed in bathrooms, wet rooms, or any area where it may be exposed to water or high humidity.
