Does the Nell 48 cm pendant light need to be installed by an electrician?
Yes, as this is a hardwired Class I pendant light, it must be installed by a qualified electrician in compliance with UK Part P Building Regulations. The fitting connects directly to your mains supply via a ceiling rose or junction box, and requires earthing for safety. Installation difficulty is rated as easy for a competent electrician, and it's suitable for plasterboard, timber joist, or concrete ceilings.
What bulb do I need for the Nell beige fabric pendant?
You'll need one E27 (Edison screw) bulb with a maximum wattage of 12W. The bulb is not included, so you'll need to purchase this separately. For best results with the fabric drum shade, we recommend a warm white LED bulb (2700K-3000K) to enhance the soft, diffused glow, and choose a dimmable E27 bulb if you want dimming functionality.
Can this pendant light be dimmed?
Yes, the Nell is dimmable when fitted with a compatible dimmable E27 bulb. You'll need to install a trailing edge dimmer switch to control the brightness smoothly without flickering. Both the dimmer switch and dimmable bulb must be purchased separately, as neither is included with the fitting.
What are the dimensions and is the cable length adjustable?
The fabric drum shade measures 48 cm in diameter, and the total drop from ceiling to bottom of the shade is 150 cm (1.5 metres). The cable is height-adjustable, so your electrician can shorten it during installation to suit your ceiling height and hanging preference, making it ideal for positioning over dining tables or kitchen islands at the perfect height.
Can I use this pendant light in a bathroom?
No, the Nell has an IP20 rating, which means it's only suitable for dry indoor locations and offers no protection against moisture. It cannot be used in bathrooms or any other areas where it may be exposed to water or high humidity. For bathroom lighting, you'll need a fitting with a minimum IP44 rating (IP65 for shower zones).
What warranty does the Nell fabric pendant come with?
This pendant light comes with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. The fitting is CE marked and RoHS compliant, meeting UK safety and environmental standards. Note that the warranty covers the light fitting only—bulbs are considered consumable items and are not covered.
