Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

What type of bulb does the Shiro 60cm pendant take and what's the maximum wattage?
The Shiro uses a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb with a maximum wattage of 7W. No bulb is included, so you'll need to purchase one separately. Given the 7W limit, an LED bulb is your only practical option—this keeps energy costs low while providing ample light for the fitting's 60cm diameter.
Can I dim this pendant light?
Yes, the Shiro is dimmable, but you'll need two things: a dimmable E27 LED bulb and a trailing edge dimmer switch installed on your wall circuit. The fitting itself supports dimming, but the actual dimming capability depends entirely on pairing it with a compatible bulb and the correct dimmer type.
Do I need an electrician to install this pendant, or can I fit it myself?
You'll need a qualified electrician to install this fitting, as it's hardwired directly into your mains ceiling circuit. Under UK Building Regulations Part P, any new or altered fixed wiring in a dwelling must be installed or certified by a competent person. The installation itself is classified as easy, but legal compliance requires professional work.
How low will the Shiro hang from my ceiling with the cable provided?
The pendant comes with a 2-metre suspension cable, so it can hang up to 2m below your ceiling rose or junction box. You can shorten the cable during installation to suit your ceiling height—this is particularly useful over dining tables or kitchen islands where you'll want to adjust the drop for both aesthetic balance and headroom.
Is this pendant suitable for a bathroom or outdoor porch?
No, the Shiro has an IP20 rating, which means it's only suitable for dry indoor locations with no moisture exposure. It cannot be used in bathrooms (which require minimum IP44 in zones) or any outdoor areas, even if covered. Stick to living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, hallways, and dry kitchens away from direct steam.
What warranty does this pendant come with and is it CE marked?
The fitting comes with a 2-year manufacturer warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. It's CE marked and RoHS compliant, confirming it meets UK and EU safety and environmental standards. The warranty is valid from your date of purchase, so keep your receipt for any future claims.
