Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

The fitting connects directly to your mains ceiling supply, typically via a BESA box or ceiling rose. Installation is classed as easy for a competent electrician, suitable for plasterboard, timber joist, or concrete ceilings.
What bulb do I need for this travertine and wood pendant?
The Taoka uses a standard E27 (Edison Screw) bulb with a maximum wattage of 12W. No bulb is included, so you'll need to purchase one separately. For best results with the natural stone shade, consider a warm white LED (2700K-3000K) in E27 fitting to complement the earthy, organic aesthetic.
Can this pendant light be dimmed?
Yes, the fitting is dimmable when paired with a dimmable E27 bulb and a trailing edge dimmer switch. The dimmer and bulb must both be compatible – the fitting itself supports dimming, but you'll need to ensure your bulb is marked as dimmable and your dimmer is trailing edge type for flicker-free performance.
What are the exact dimensions of this travertine pendant?
The shade measures 120mm in diameter and 170mm in height, with a 1.3-metre suspension cable. This compact size makes it ideal for bedside pendants, solo use in small spaces, or hanging in multiples – for example, a row of three above a kitchen island works particularly well given its modest 12cm width.
Can I use this pendant light in a bathroom?
No, this fitting is rated IP20 and is only suitable for dry indoor locations. It does not have the moisture protection required for bathroom zones – you'd need a minimum of IP44 for most bathroom areas. Use it in kitchens, bedrooms, dining rooms, or hallways instead.
