Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Questions
Does the Taoka pendant light require an electrician to install?
Yes, this fitting is hardwired and must be installed by a qualified electrician in compliance with UK Part P Building Regulations. The light connects directly to your mains ceiling wiring (typically via a BESA box or ceiling rose) and requires competent electrical work to ensure safety and warranty compliance. Installation difficulty is rated as easy for a professional, with a 1.5m suspension cable provided.
What bulbs do I need for this 4-light pendant and are they included?
You'll need four E27 screw-in bulbs (not included). Each lampholder accepts a maximum of 12W, so we recommend using LED E27 bulbs rated at 8–12W for best results. If you want dimming functionality, ensure you choose dimmable E27 LEDs and pair them with a trailing edge dimmer switch.
Can the Taoka travertine pendant be dimmed?
Yes, the fitting is dimmable when used with dimmable E27 bulbs and a trailing edge dimmer switch (both sold separately). The travertine stone shades glow beautifully when dimmed, allowing you to adjust the ambience from bright task lighting to soft ambient pools of light. Standard on/off switches will work fine if you don't require dimming.
What are the dimensions and drop height of this pendant light?
The circular wooden canopy measures 350mm in diameter, with four travertine shades suspended at varying heights below. The cable length is 1.5m, giving you flexibility to adjust the drop to suit your ceiling height. This makes it ideal for dining tables, hallways or stairwells where staggered heights create visual interest.
Is this pendant light suitable for bathrooms?
No, the Taoka is rated IP20, which means it's not protected against moisture and is only suitable for dry indoor locations. For bathroom use, you'd need a minimum of IP44 (or IP65 for shower zones). This fitting is best suited to living rooms, dining areas, hallways or bedrooms.
What warranty comes with this light fitting and where is it made?
The Taoka comes with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. It is made in China and is both CE marked and RoHS compliant, meeting UK safety and environmental standards. The warranty requires installation by a qualified electrician to remain valid.
The Enso Standard
Anyone can sell you a light.
We’d rather sell you the right one.
Lighting, considered.
Chosen, not stocked
For every piece here, we passed on hundreds. If a fitting doesn’t earn its place, it isn’t here.
Curation is mostly the art of saying no.
Held to one standard
Copenhagen brass or precision-built LED — every piece is vetted the same way: finish, build, light quality, safety. If it doesn’t pass, it doesn’t stay.
The standard doesn’t care what a light costs.
Nothing left to guess
Every dimension, bulb, IP rating and install note published before you buy — you and your electrician know exactly what arrives.
The spec sheet is the love letter.
Backed, properly
Two-year warranty as standard, 30-day returns. If something isn’t right, we’d rather know — and put it right.
A fitting should outlast the fashion that chose it.
