Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Questions
Does the Arvid floor lamp need an electrician to install?
No, the Arvid is a plug-in floor lamp with an inline foot switch, so no electrician or hardwiring is required. Simply unpack it, plug it into a standard UK socket, and switch it on. It's exempt from Part P Building Regulations as it involves no fixed wiring work.
What type of bulb does this floor lamp take and is one included?
The Arvid uses a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb with a maximum wattage of 11W, which accommodates modern LED bulbs perfectly. A bulb is not included in the box, so you'll need to purchase an E27 LED separately—we recommend a warm white (2700K–3000K) for a cosy glow through the linen shade.
Can I use a dimmer switch with this oatmeal linen floor lamp?
The lamp itself has a standard inline foot switch (on/off only), but you can achieve dimming by fitting a dimmable E27 LED bulb and plugging the lamp into a trailing-edge plug-in dimmer adapter. Make sure both the bulb and dimmer are compatible to avoid flickering.
How tall is the Arvid floor lamp and will it fit under a low ceiling?
The Arvid stands 130cm (1.3 metres) tall with a 30cm diameter shade, making it a mid-height floor lamp ideal for placement beside sofas, armchairs, or in bedroom corners. It works well in rooms with standard UK ceiling heights (typically 2.4m) and won't overwhelm smaller spaces.
Is this floor lamp suitable for a bathroom?
No, the Arvid has an IP20 rating, which means it's only suitable for dry indoor areas with no exposure to moisture. It should not be used in bathrooms, en-suites, or any other wet or humid zones where higher IP ratings (IP44 or above) are required by UK wiring regulations.
How much light does the oatmeal linen shade let through?
The natural linen weave softly diffuses light, creating gentle ambient illumination rather than a bright task light. The open top allows uplighting to bounce off the ceiling, while the fabric filters side glow for a warm, restful atmosphere—ideal for living rooms, bedrooms, or reading nooks. Actual brightness will depend on the lumen output of your chosen E27 bulb (up to 11W LED, roughly 800–1000 lumens).
The Enso Standard
Anyone can sell you a light.
We’d rather sell you the right one.
Lighting, considered.
Chosen, not stocked
For every piece here, we passed on hundreds. If a fitting doesn’t earn its place, it isn’t here.
Curation is mostly the art of saying no.
Held to one standard
Copenhagen brass or precision-built LED — every piece is vetted the same way: finish, build, light quality, safety. If it doesn’t pass, it doesn’t stay.
The standard doesn’t care what a light costs.
Nothing left to guess
Every dimension, bulb, IP rating and install note published before you buy — you and your electrician know exactly what arrives.
The spec sheet is the love letter.
Backed, properly
Two-year warranty as standard, 30-day returns. If something isn’t right, we’d rather know — and put it right.
A fitting should outlast the fashion that chose it.
