Does the Hoshi travertine pendant require an electrician to install?
Yes, this is a hardwired Class I fitting and must be installed by a qualified electrician in compliance with UK Part P Building Regulations. The Hoshi suspends from a ceiling rose or BESA box and requires connection to mains wiring. Installation is rated as easy for a professional, and the pendant is suitable for mounting on plasterboard, timber joists, or concrete ceilings.
What type of bulbs does the Hoshi pendant take and are they included?
The Hoshi uses three E27 screw-in bulbs (standard Edison screw), with a maximum wattage of 12W per lampholder. Bulbs are not included, so you'll need to purchase three separately. For best results with the natural travertine and wood aesthetic, we recommend warm white LED bulbs (2700K–3000K) to enhance the organic, Mediterranean-inspired glow.
Can the Hoshi travertine pendant be dimmed?
Yes, the Hoshi is dimmable when fitted with dimmable E27 bulbs and connected to a trailing edge dimmer switch. The dimmer and dimmable bulbs must be purchased separately, as neither are included. Ensure your electrician installs a trailing edge dimmer compatible with LED bulbs if you're using LED lamps.
What are the dimensions of the Hoshi 3-light pendant and how low does it hang?
The fitting measures 700mm wide and has a total drop of 1500mm from ceiling to the bottom of the shades, including the suspension cable. The height is adjustable, so your electrician can shorten the 1.5m cable during installation to suit your ceiling height. This makes it ideal for positioning over dining tables or kitchen islands where you need focused, balanced lighting.
Is the Hoshi travertine pendant suitable for bathrooms?
No, the Hoshi has an IP20 rating, which means it's only suitable for dry indoor locations and offers no protection against moisture. It cannot be used in bathrooms, especially near showers or baths where higher IP ratings (IP44 or above) are required by UK wiring regulations. Stick to living rooms, dining rooms, hallways, or bedrooms.
What warranty does the Hoshi pendant come with?
The Hoshi is covered by a 2-year manufacturer's warranty from the date of purchase. This covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. The fitting is CE marked and RoHS compliant, meeting UK safety and environmental standards.
