Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Does the Katsura pendant light require an electrician to install?
Yes, this is a hardwired ceiling pendant and installation must comply with Part P of the Building Regulations in England and Wales. Unless you're a qualified electrician or competent person, you'll need to hire a registered sparky to connect it safely to your mains circuit. The fitting itself is straightforward to mount to a standard ceiling rose or BESA box, but the electrical connection is notifiable work.
What type of bulb does this pendant take and is one included?
The Katsura uses a standard E27 screw bulb (Edison screw), which is not included in the box. You'll need to purchase an LED bulb separately with a maximum wattage of 7W. For best results with the layered stone-effect shade, we'd recommend a warm white (2700K-3000K) LED in either standard or globe shape.
Can this pendant light be dimmed?
Yes, the fitting is dimmable when paired with a dimmable E27 LED bulb and a trailing edge dimmer switch. You'll need to ensure both the bulb you purchase is marked as dimmable and that your dimmer is compatible with LED loads—older leading edge dimmers designed for incandescent bulbs may cause flickering. The pendant itself has no restrictions on dimming once these requirements are met.
What are the exact dimensions and how low will it hang?
The shade measures 40 cm wide and 27 cm deep (tall), with a 2-metre cable supplied. This gives you flexibility to suspend it at various heights depending on your ceiling and desired effect—ideal for hanging low over a bedside table or dining nook. The cable can be shortened during installation if you prefer a higher mounting position.
Is this pendant suitable for a bathroom?
No, the Katsura has an IP20 rating, which means it's only suitable for dry indoor locations and offers no protection against moisture. For bathroom use, you'd need a minimum of IP44 (ideally IP65 in shower zones), so this pendant is best kept to bedrooms, living rooms, hallways, or dining areas.
What's the warranty coverage on this pendant light?
This fitting comes with a 2-year manufacturer warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. The warranty applies to the pendant fixture itself, though bulbs are typically considered consumables and aren't covered. Keep your proof of purchase and register the product if prompted to ensure you're covered for the full term.
