Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Does the Katsura pendant light need to be installed by an electrician?
Yes, as this is a hardwired ceiling pendant, it must be installed by a qualified electrician in compliance with UK Building Regulations Part P. The fitting connects directly to your mains wiring and requires proper earthing (it's Class I), so professional installation is legally required and ensures safety. The installation difficulty is rated as easy for a competent electrician.
Can this pendant light be dimmed?
Yes, the Katsura is dimmable when fitted with a dimmable E27 bulb and connected to a trailing edge dimmer switch. You'll need to ensure both the bulb you choose is marked as dimmable and that your dimmer is compatible with the bulb type (LED bulbs require LED-compatible trailing edge dimmers). The fitting itself supports dimming, but the bulb is not included.
What size bulb does this pendant take and is one included?
This pendant uses a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb with a maximum wattage of 7W, which suits modern LED bulbs perfectly. No bulb is included, so you'll need to purchase one separately. An E27 LED bulb in your preferred colour temperature (warm white, cool white, etc.) will work well with the stone-effect layered design.
How big is this pendant and what's the cable length?
The pendant measures 60 cm wide (600 mm) and 420 mm deep, making it a substantial statement piece ideal for dining tables or larger living spaces. It comes with a 2-metre cable, which can typically be shortened during installation by your electrician to suit your ceiling height and desired drop length.
Can I use this pendant light in a bathroom?
No, this pendant is rated IP20, which means it's only suitable for dry indoor areas with no moisture exposure. IP20-rated fittings are not safe for bathrooms, especially near showers, baths, or sinks where water splashes could occur. For bathrooms, you'd need a minimum of IP44 or zone-specific rated lighting.
