Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Viena wall light need to be installed by a qualified electrician?
Yes, as this is a hardwired Class I fitting, installation falls under Part P of the Building Regulations in England and Wales. You'll need a qualified electrician or competent person registered with a scheme like NICEIC to carry out the wiring and issue the necessary certification. The fitting mounts to a standard wall backplate and connects directly to your mains circuit.
What type of bulb does this wall light take and is one included?
The Viena uses a single E27 ES (Edison Screw) bulb, which is not included with the fitting. You can use any standard E27 bulb up to the maximum wattage rating – LED, halogen, or traditional incandescent styles all fit. For best results with the upward light direction, choose a warm white LED (2700K-3000K) to complement the antique brass finish.
Can this wall light be used with a dimmer switch?
Yes, the Viena is dimmable, but you'll need to ensure both your dimmer switch and your chosen E27 bulb are compatible. If using LED bulbs, select ones specifically marked as dimmable and pair them with an LED-compatible trailing or leading edge dimmer switch. Traditional incandescent and most halogen bulbs will dim without issue on standard dimmer switches.
How far does this fitting stick out from the wall?
The Viena has a projection of just 150mm from the wall, making it an extremely low-profile flush fitting. With a width of 305mm and height of 130mm, it sits close to the surface and won't intrude into narrow hallways or landings. This slim depth also makes it ideal for positioning above furniture or in areas where clearance is limited.
Is this wall light suitable for bathrooms?
No, the Viena has an IP20 rating, which means it's not protected against moisture and should only be used in dry indoor environments. For bathroom use, you'd need a minimum of IP44 (IP65 for shower zones), so this fitting is best suited to living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, and dining rooms where humidity isn't a concern.
What height should I mount this uplighter for the best effect?
The ideal mounting height for the Viena is between 1.5 and 2.0 metres from the floor. This range allows the upward light to wash across the ceiling effectively whilst keeping the fitting at a comfortable eye level in hallways and living spaces. Mounting within this range also prevents the light from being too high (losing impact) or too low (creating glare).
