Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Yes, hardwired pendant lights must be installed by a qualified electrician in compliance with UK Building Regulations Part P. The fitting connects directly to your ceiling rose or BESA box and requires mains wiring, so professional installation is both a legal requirement and a safety necessity. DIY installation is not permitted for mains-voltage ceiling fittings in the UK.
What type of bulb does the Ando concrete pendant use?
The Ando uses a single E27 Edison screw bulb, which is the standard large screw fitting widely available in the UK. You can choose any E27 LED, halogen, or filament bulb up to the fitting's maximum wattage to achieve your preferred brightness and colour temperature. E27 bulbs are stocked by most supermarkets, DIY stores, and lighting retailers.
Can I use a dimmer switch with this concrete pendant light?
Dimming capability depends entirely on the bulb you choose, not the fitting itself. If you install a dimmable E27 LED bulb and have a compatible LED dimmer switch fitted, the Ando will dim without issue. Always check your bulb packaging confirms it's dimmable and match it to an appropriate dimmer to avoid flickering or buzzing.
Is the Ando pendant suitable for bathroom use?
No, the Ando has an IP20 rating, meaning it offers no moisture protection and is only suitable for dry indoor environments. UK bathroom zones require minimum IP44 (or higher) ratings depending on proximity to water sources, so this fitting cannot be safely or legally installed in a bathroom.
