Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

No Light Effect – Accessory Only
This is a junction box accessory for installing plaster-in downlights, not a light fitting itself. It provides electrical connection and lamp holder support but produces no light without a separate GU10 bulb and downlight trim.

Questions
Does this junction box require an electrician to install?
Yes, this is a hardwired electrical accessory and installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician in compliance with UK Building Regulations Part P. The Kanto junction box connects directly to your mains electrical supply and provides both junction box functionality and an integral GU10 lampholder. While the pushfit terminals simplify the wiring process, only a competent person should perform the installation.
What size plaster-in downlight does this junction box fit?
This junction box measures 88mm in height, 38mm in width, and 100mm in depth, designed specifically to fit behind plaster-in downlights that accept a GU10 bulb. You'll need to ensure your ceiling void has at least 100mm clearance depth to accommodate the box. The compact 38mm width allows it to fit between standard joist spacing.
Can I use this junction box in a bathroom?
No, this junction box is rated IP20 which means it's suitable for indoor use only in dry locations. It is not suitable for bathroom zones where higher IP ratings are required by BS 7671 wiring regulations. For bathroom installations, you would need a junction box with a minimum IP rating appropriate to the specific zone.
What type of bulb does this junction box accept?
The Kanto features an integral GU10 lampholder, so it accepts standard GU10 bulbs which are the most common downlight bulbs in the UK. The plug-in lampholder design allows you to unplug the GU10 holder for easy lamp changes without having to access the wiring. You can use LED, halogen, or other GU10 bulbs as preferred.
Do I need a separate junction box with this fitting?
No, the pushfit terminals are built directly into this unit, eliminating the need for a separate junction box. You can loop in and out using the pushfit connectors, making it ideal for creating lighting circuits with multiple downlights. This saves space in the ceiling void and simplifies installation.
What warranty does this junction box come with?
The Kanto pushfit junction box comes with a 2-year warranty covering manufacturing defects. It is both CE marked and RoHS compliant, meeting UK electrical safety standards. The warranty covers the junction box itself and the integral GU10 lampholder, though bulbs are considered consumable items and are not covered.
The Enso Standard
Anyone can sell you a light.
We’d rather sell you the right one.
Lighting, considered.
Chosen, not stocked
For every piece here, we passed on hundreds. If a fitting doesn’t earn its place, it isn’t here.
Curation is mostly the art of saying no.
Held to one standard
Copenhagen brass or precision-built LED — every piece is vetted the same way: finish, build, light quality, safety. If it doesn’t pass, it doesn’t stay.
The standard doesn’t care what a light costs.
Nothing left to guess
Every dimension, bulb, IP rating and install note published before you buy — you and your electrician know exactly what arrives.
The spec sheet is the love letter.
Backed, properly
Two-year warranty as standard, 30-day returns. If something isn’t right, we’d rather know — and put it right.
A fitting should outlast the fashion that chose it.
