Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Is this LED filament bulb compatible with dimmer switches?
Yes, the Lumi 4.5W LED filament bulb is fully dimmable. You'll need a dimmer switch specifically rated for LED bulbs, as older trailing-edge dimmers designed for incandescent bulbs may cause flickering or buzzing. Most modern LED-compatible dimmers will allow you to adjust the light output smoothly from full brightness down to a low glow.
What colour temperature is this bulb and will it give a warm light?
This bulb emits light at 2700K, which produces a warm white glow identical to traditional incandescent bulbs. It's ideal for creating a cosy, inviting atmosphere in living rooms, bedrooms, and dining areas. The warm tone is softer and less clinical than daylight or cool white bulbs, making it perfect for relaxed evening lighting.
What is the E27 ES fitting and will it fit my lamp holder?
E27 ES (Edison Screw) is the standard large screw fitting commonly used in the UK for pendant lights, table lamps, and floor lamps. The base measures 27mm in diameter with a threaded screw fitting. If your existing bulb has a large screw base rather than a bayonet (push-and-twist) fitting, this bulb will fit.
Can I use this bulb in a bathroom or outdoor light fitting?
No, the Lumi has an IP20 rating, which means it's only suitable for dry indoor locations. It is not protected against moisture and should not be used in bathrooms, especially near showers or baths where water splashes may occur. For bathrooms, you'll need a bulb with at least an IP44 rating or higher.
How much energy does this LED bulb use compared to an old incandescent?
This LED bulb consumes just 4.5 watts whilst producing light output comparable to a traditional 40-50W incandescent bulb. Over its lifetime, it will use approximately 90% less electricity than an equivalent incandescent, significantly reducing your energy bills. The low wattage also means it generates very little heat compared to older bulb technologies.
What is the lifespan of this LED filament bulb?
LED filament bulbs like the Lumi typically last between 15,000 and 25,000 hours depending on usage patterns. At an average of 3 hours per day, you can expect this bulb to last approximately 15-20 years before needing replacement. This is significantly longer than traditional incandescent bulbs, which usually last only 1,000-2,000 hours.
