Questions we get asked

Do bamboo and woven shades give enough light?

Woven shades filter light, so they read as atmosphere first. In a dining or living room, pair one with lamps or wall lights, and choose a warm LED within the fitting's maximum wattage.

How high should a woven pendant hang over a table?

Keep 75–85 cm between the tabletop and the bottom of the shade, centred on the table. Over a kitchen island, hang it 75–90 cm above the worktop.

What size pendant do I need?

Add the room's length and width in metres and multiply by 8 for a starting diameter in centimetres: a 4 × 3.5 m room suggests about 60 cm. Over a table, size it to half to three-quarters of the table's width.

Can I use natural-fibre lights in a bathroom or conservatory?

Not in bathroom zones: every pick here is IP20, for dry indoor rooms. A dry, heated garden room is fine, as long as the light is kept away from steam and damp.

Which bulb should I use?

A warm 2700K LED suits living rooms, bedrooms and dining rooms, and keeps bamboo, wood and linen looking warm. Check each pick's bulb cap in the Light row and stay within its maximum wattage.

Do I need an electrician?

Every ceiling and wall light here is hardwired, so a new position is a job for a registered electrician. The Arvid floor lamp simply plugs in.
